THE POWER OF PLACE: CASTLERIGG STONE CIRCLE

castlerigg2national-trust2
The National Trust is searching for new writing to help celebrate the power of a very special place – Castlerigg Stone Circle – by way of a poetry competition.

The winning poem will appear on new information boards on site, credited to the poet, and the poet will also win £30 of gift tokens for Bluebell Bookshop in Penrith. The runner-up receives a £10 gift token for Neo’s in Cockermouth.

Poems need to be no longer than 50 words, and should be a creative response to Castlerigg Stone Circle – as a place steeped in mystery, which has fired imagination for millennia. Work must be previously unpublished (although poems you have posted on the internet yourself can be entered).

Guidelines:
You may submit up to 3 poems. Each poem can be up to 50 words long.
For email submissions, please send all your poems in a single attachment, with your name in the footer and as the title of the Word document.
Submissions for Castlerigg Poetry are welcome from 1 – 30 August 2009.
Use ‘poetry submission’ for the subject line of the email, and send to borrowdale@nationaltrust.org.uk or if you prefer you can post your poems to The National Trust, Bowe Barn, Borrowdale Road, Keswick, CA12 5UP
