BROUGH CHRISTMAS FAIR

brough-xmas-fairThere’s plenty of festive fun on offer in Brough on Saturday 12 December, when Brough Christmas Fair takes to the streets – and other venues in the town – with local produce stalls, market stalls, funfair, table top sale, pet show, a Christmas tree competition in the Methodist Church Hall on the theme of Christmas carols. The event as a whole has a Victorian theme and the town hopes to attrace people from across the district too, by offering free day time bus services to and from Kirkby Stephen and Penrith.

Activities kick off at 10am, with an ’official’ opening at 1.30,  by High Sherriff of Cumbria Susan Thornley, who will read Brough Market & Fair Charter of 1330. The Bishop of Carlisle and ‘Queen Victoria’ will also be in attendance. A Grand Procession will then go through the town, led by Barracudas Carnival Band.

To round the day off, there’ll be carold in the Memorial Hall at 7pm, followed by  music/ceilidh .
