C-Art, Cumbria’s largest visual arts programme, now in its sixth year is now open for submissions from artists in Cumbria for both it’s membership and open studios event held at the end of Summer 2016.

The programme open to artists, designers and galleries across Cumbria continues to grow from strength to strength – in 2015 droves of visitors took to the studio trail, with 31,116 people taking visiting artists’ studios and galleries across the county during September, taking place this year from 10th – 25th September 2016.

Eden Arts devised C-Art in 2011 to celebrate the wealth of creative talent in Cumbria’s beautiful landscape and to give visitors the opportunity to talk to artists, watch demonstrations and see how work is made in some of the most remarkable towns and villages in the UK.

The main event C-Art open studios in September has also continued to grow, with 112 artist studios and galleries throwing open their doors to visitors in 2015.  During the previous five years of C-Art, the programme has led to direct art sales to the tune of £544,668. The average sales per artist in 2011 equated to £572, rising to £1140 per artist in 2015.

Open studios in 2016 will be from 10th September – 25th September and Eden Arts are currently looking for submissions from artists in Cumbria. The deadline is Friday 25th March with more details available at www.c-art.org.uk/artists-opportunities
