Internationally acclaimed artist Conrad Atkinson – who is well known on both sides of the Atlantic – is to head up an eclectic mix of guest artists for C-Art 2016, one of the North’s leading visual arts events. Regarded as one of the leading fine artists of his generation, the radical Cumbrian-born artist has used his art to highlight political and social causes for more than 40 years. C-Art is encouraging artists to apply for membership to one of the largest network of artists in Cumbria alongside the hugely successful open studios and also offering the opportunity to submit work to the second Cumbrian Artist of the Year Exhibition and Awards 2016. The annual event and awards, in association with Cumbria Life, will take place throughout Cumbria with the accompanying exhibition being held in the main gallery at Rheged, Penrith from 9th September – 13th November 2016. C-Art announces a new initiative for the second Cumbrian Artist of the Year Exhibition and Awards 2016. The annual event in association with Cumbria Life, set to take place in the main gallery at Rheged, Penrith from 9th September – 13th November 2016 will be introducing a new selection process. Penrith’s Castle Park is two things. It’s the ruins of the town’s old castle, all thick red sandstone walls and big ditches. And it’s a largely untouched Victorian or Edwardian town park.
