The annual town celebration that is The Winter Droving: a magical celebration of rural life, food, fun, masquerade, and fire in Penrith.
Next year the Winter Droving will be on Saturday 26th October 2024. Dates for the Ullswater Droving 2024 TBC.
This year the Winter Droving was in it's 12th year! On the 28th October 2023, the magical torchlight procession rounded off a day of music, masquerade and magical carnivalesque goings on.
There was food, there was music, and of course the parade!
2023 saw the return of the Ullswater Droving on Saturday 21st October where we Welcomed the Wolf with Worldbeaters Spark! and collaborated with Walk the Plank on a giant piece of landscape are with their geolights.

Masks are on sale in shops across Penrith including Seagraves and Dixon, Natures Health Store, Tattie Tim, The Lion and Unicorn Galleries, Moon on the Hill, Arragons Cycles, Penrith Tourist Information Centre.

FANCY DRESS FOR DOGS
Your dog could have a natural dog-walk style (way better than a cat-walk). Join the fancy dress for dogs here!
DROVERS CUP SPONSORED BY A WILDERNESS WAY
Fancy competing in the epic Drovers Cup? Get your team together and enter here to be in the chance of winning the coveted cup.
Information Stand
Located by the Clock Tower the information stand will be selling masks and offering information about the day.
Market and Funfair
The market will be open from 11am as will the fun fair in Great Dockray.
Travel
Penrith has excellent transport links via public transport and we urge visitors to use public transport where possible
Bus information can be found here (please note there will be road closures in place so some bus routes may vary on the day)
Penrith Train Station is 5 minute walk from the town. Information about trains can be found here
Why not consider one of the amazing carshare websites such as liftshare.com
There are plenty of plenty of places to park your bike in town- just avoid those street performers!
If you are traveling by car Penrith is junction 40 off the M6 and can be accessed from the A66 and A6.
Parking
Parking is available in the towns car parks- a list of which can be found here (excluding Mansion House Car Park).
Additional parking will be available free of charge at Ullswater Community College, Wetheriggs Ln, Penrith CA11 8NG
