A week with Lola at Eden Arts

Recently, I joined the Eden Arts team for a week of work experience. Here are some of the things that I got up to:

On my first day, I went on a tour of the facilities and got to know the team. I was introduced to some of their past projects. My favourite part was getting to see the Winter Droving lanterns up close; they’re a lot bigger than I was expecting them to be. I also spent a few hours making faeries for the Unseen Project, and then photographed them outside in their natural environment.

On Tuesday, I went down to the site for the Picnic Cinema event to help set up the venue before the event. This was probably my favourite part of the week because of how beautiful the area was. I helped with various tasks such as building the truss and putting up signs.

On Wednesday, I helped set up some of the costumes for the event. I cut out and sewed some details for the swag bag. This was fun as I enjoy sewing and fibre arts.

On Thursday I helped to finish up the gift bags for the Picnic Cinema. It was a little repetitive but this sort of thing is important to arrange such cool events.

Overall, I really enjoyed my week at Eden Arts. I gained some valuable insight into how workplaces in the creative industries function and the amount of hard work that goes into creating events for people to enjoy.
