BRINGING CINE NORTH TO THE NORTH EAST
Our project Cine North is a community cinema scheme in the North of England focused on bringing people in rural and remote communities together. At our project’s heart is the goal to bring people together through fun social events, with a great film as the glue.
Currently we work with around 50 venues across the North of the country, in Cumbria, Yorkshire, Lancashire and Tees Valley, and now, we are thrilled to share that we have been successful in the last few months at achieving a lottery funded grant, which has allowed us to purchase new cinema kits and to expand into the Durham and Teesdale areas to reach the small communities there.
Communities in the Durham and Teesdale areas will now have an exclusive opportunity to free use of state of the art cinema equipment and the benefit of a fully supported community cinema programme by joining our Cine North scheme.
Whilst we support venues throughout the process, from setting up their cinema team to taking care of sourcing film licences and films, providing regular film menus, promotional material, and state of the art screening equipment (*totally free with training), they can focus on creating fun, social gatherings that could include dressing up, food, music, games, talks and other activities, perhaps inspired by the film’s themes. It is a great opportunity to bring vibrancy, opportunity and income to their venue and village.
So...are you based in a small community in the Durham or Teesdale areas and want to help bring entertaining social events and connection to the people in your community?

‘In The Veins’ (25 mins)
Screening on the weekend that marks the 40th year anniversary of the end of the 1985 Miner’s strike, ‘In The Veins’ is a film that resonates through time. Created by members of the public who acted as a curatorial group, Teeside University Lecturer Benjamin Lamb, Yorkshire Film Archive and North East Film Archive, the film uses over a century of archive footage to shine a light onto the face of the mining heritage of Yorkshire and the North East of England.
Free to attend but limited spaces available, please book your ticket here : https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1...
